Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

½ cup real butter (please, no margarine!)

3 cups confectioner’s sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa

1/3 cup whole milk or half and half

3 teaspoons real vanilla extract

Cream butter until it is smooth and fluffy. Slowly beat in the confectioner’s sugar and the unsweetened cocoa. Add the milk a little at a time, for you may not need quite all of it. Add the vanilla last, and mix in thoroughly. Frost cooled cake layers with this mixture.

Take care that none of the children who will be attending the party is allergic to chocolate before you use this flavour of frosting on the cake. A few telephone calls will get this information for you, and you can proceed with your plans based on what you learned.
